Our Story

Like many great ideas, the inspiration for Happy Monk was hidden in plain sight.

In late 1960s New York, a group of monks, motivated to give back to their newfound community, began serving warm, home-cooked vegetarian meals to those in need. Simple food. Shared freely. Prepared with care. Decades later, that same ritual continues.

During a time of personal challenge, there was deep purpose and joy in the simple ritual of serving food to those in need. The fresh food, made with high quality ingredients was simple but nourished, comforted and energized people who could not access this themselves.

Happy Monk is a homage to that spirit.

To the joy these monks spread.
To the simplicity of their lives.
To the devotion to service woven into everything they did.

We believe food should nourish beyond hunger. That everyday staples, when treated with respect, can carry meaning. OUR JASMINE rice selected to honour tradition, care, and excellence.
